The Town of Stouffville is holding a public meeting on May 7, 2025, regarding proposed amendments to re-designate and rezone 15400 Highway 48 from “Institutional” to “Commercial Mixed Use – Ballantrae.” The meeting invites public input on Official Plan Amendment OPA 25.002 and Zoning By-law Amendment ZBA 25.008.

The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is holding a Public Meeting on May 7, 2025, to consider a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment (File ZBA 25.007) for 100 Weldon Road. The proposal would rezone the Town-owned property from Institutional (I) to Commercial Residential Mixed Use – Western Approach (CM2). No development is currently planned. Town of Stouffville Offers Condolences Following the Passing of Pope Francis
The Town of Stouffville extends condolences to the Catholic community following the passing of Pope Francis on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88. As the first Latin American and Jesuit pope, he was widely respected for his efforts to modernize the Church and promote peace, inclusion and environmental protection. Flags have been lowered to half-mast in his honour.
Town Passes By-law to Ban the Sale and Personal Use of Fireworks
The Town of Stouffville has approved a new by-law banning the sale and personal use of fireworks to reduce noise, injury risks and environmental harm. The move aims to create a safer, more peaceful community, with violations subject to fines under the Town’s AMPS system. Residents are encouraged to enjoy fireworks at Town-led events on Victoria Day and Canada Day. Learn more at townofws.ca/fireworks
Street Sweeping Season is Underway in Stouffville
The Town has officially launched its annual Street Sweeping Program to clear sand, leaves and debris from local roads, improving cleanliness and safety. Residents are asked to help by spreading yard waste evenly along curbs (not in piles), minimizing on-street parking, keeping waste bins off the road and following local by-laws related to sports equipment. Together, we can help keep Stouffville clean and safe this spring.

Construction Notice: Woodbine Avenue, Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville
York Region will be resurfacing Woodbine Avenue from Aurora Road to Vivian Road from April to June 2025. The project includes asphalt removal, culvert replacements, and curb repairs. Temporary lane closures will occur Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM, but access to homes and businesses will be maintained. Safety measures will be in place during the removal of asphalt containing trace amounts of asbestos.
