WARD 6

Sue Sherban

Born and raised at Musselman’s Lake, Sue Sherban attended Ballantrae Public School, Stouffville District Secondary School and Seneca College. Whitchurch-Stouffville is where Sue met and married her husband of 42 years, Peter, and this small town is where they chose to raise their 3 daughters, Lindsay, Lisa and Lesley. One of the greatest joys of Sue’s life is watching her daughters turn into successful young women and start families of their own; Sue’s 3 grandchildren have given her another perspective on life and have brought lots of energy to their growing family. For many years Sue owned and operated her own local small business after which she had a career in marketing and customer service. Sue has lived in Whitchurch-Stouffville for over 40 years and served locally as Ward 6 Councillor from 1997-2003 and then as Mayor from 2003-2006.

Having served as a member of many town committees and supported a number of volunteer organizations, Sue started her political career as a local advocate for an indoor pool which came to fruition during her first term as Ward 6 Councillor. Whitchurch- Stouffville’s small-town charm is rooted in our heritage assets and their preservation of them is paramount. Sue lobbied to save the old town hall and bring new life to an old heritage asset which we now know as ‘19 on the Park’. Sue is also a strong supporter of the Strawberry Festival having sat on the committee for over 18 years and helped to raise significant capital dollars for the organization.

Ward 6 is the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville’s largest municipal ward with over 9,000 residents. Sue will be a strong voice at the table for Ward 6 residents and will listen to your concerns, take action and work collaboratively with all of council to bring about meaningful change. Sue will continue to engage Ward 6 residents; by holding town hall meeting and providing frequent newsletters to keep you up to date on the important issues happening in Ward 6 and Whitchurch Stouffville.

Sue believes through hard work and collaboration, we can help guide this small town back to its shared corporate values of Accountability, Commitment, Honesty, Inclusiveness, Excellence, Vision, Efficiency, Respect and Safety.
