Construction Update: Highway 48 & Stouffville Road
Project background:
The Ministry of Transportation has provided an updated regarding the culvert rehabilitation project at Highway 48 and Stouffville Road/Main Street. Although the project has not yet been completed, as of today, Friday, October 20 all interim traffic measures have been removed. The culvert rehabilitation project will resume in Spring 2024.
What’s next:
In the coming weeks, there will be watermain activities happening in this area which will be isolated to four (4) locations surrounding the Highway 48 and Stouffville Road intersection. This watermain work is scheduled for completion by the end of November 2023. Completing this necessary work this fall will ensure that the proposed work in spring 2024 can proceed in a timely manner.
What residents can expect:
The impact to traffic during this work will be minimal but please use extra caution in the area during this time as there will be workers present. We will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Transportation regarding this project and will provide a status update for the watermain work on the expected completion date in November. Notice will again be provided to residents in the spring when the culvert rehabilitation project is set to resume.
We understand that this ongoing construction has been an inconvenience for residents, businesses and visitors over the past several months and we thank you for your patience and cooperation during this work period.
