Median construction to begin on Main Street at Palmwood Gate on October 23

Stouffville has recently entered into an agreement with the Region of York to begin the construction of a landscaped median along Main Street. This project will extend from the existing median's endpoint to the intersection of Palmwood Gate and Mostar Street.

Construction activities are tentatively scheduled to commence on October 23, 2023, with the anticipated completion date set for December 15, 2023, barring any unfavorable weather conditions. Throughout the construction period, you can expect to encounter construction traffic, equipment, and workers within the work area, which may necessitate occasional lane closures. We understand that this may pose some inconveniences to your daily routines; however, rest assured that at least one lane will always remain open to accommodate traffic traveling in both eastbound and westbound directions.

We want to reassure you that access to your residences and businesses, as well as essential services such as Emergency Services, mail delivery, and waste collection, will be maintained during the construction process. Some restrictions may apply, but these will be carefully coordinated by the contractor and the Town to minimize disruptions.

The median's development adheres to the guidelines set forth in the Council-approved Class Environmental Assessment for the Widening and Reconstruction of Main Street, dated November 2002, as well as the Town's Official Plan Schedule Appendix 12-B.
