New Outdoor Battery Recycling Container Installed at Town Hall

The Town of Stouffville has partnered with Environmental 360 Solutions Ltd (E360S) to make battery recycling more accessible and safer than ever. A new outdoor battery recycling container, equipped with advanced technology, has been placed outside Stouffville Town Hall at 111 Sandiford Drive, providing residents with a convenient way to recycle household batteries 24/7.

“We’re excited to partner with E360S on this initiative, giving residents an easy way to recycle batteries safely and responsibly,” said Jack Graziosi, Commissioner of Engineering and Public Works for the Town of Stouffville.

The container includes SMART sensors that monitor battery levels and internal temperature. In case of thermal activity, a built-in fire suppression system is activated, ensuring safe battery storage. This advanced technology is part of E360S’s commitment to addressing the risks of lithium-ion battery fires, which are on the rise.

“Proper storage and disposal are crucial in preventing lithium-ion battery fires,” explained Jeff Bignell, Fire Prevention Officer for the Town of Stouffville.

E360S’s container design reflects over 20 years of experience in battery recycling and two years of rigorous testing. The acquisition of Raw Materials Company assets, including cutting-edge processing technology, allows E360S to support a nationwide battery collection network.

This new initiative makes it easier for Stouffville residents to recycle batteries responsibly, supporting our commitment to environmental sustainability in Stouffville.
