Pedestrian Crossover Construction to Begin on Main Street

Project background:

The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has awarded the construction of the Pedestrian Crossover (PXO) on Main Street to Beacon Utility Contractors Ltd. The work consists of installation of a pedestrian crossing including signage, lights, poles, pavement marking, and other items. Please see map below for site location.

What’s next:

Work is expected to begin the week of November 6 and is anticipated to continue until at least the end of the year (2023), depending on the supply of required materials. The work will extend from approximately 30m west of Lloyd Street to approximately 30m east of Freel Lane.

The Town has retained the services of CIMA Canada Inc. to provide site inspection services during construction.

What residents can expect:

Access to business entrances will remain open and pedestrian access on the north and south sidewalks on Main Street within the work area will be accommodated as much as possible.

Minimal traffic disruption is anticipated during construction. All required traffic control measures will be followed during the project.
