Stouffville Rises to #13 on "Canada's Most Livable Cities" List for 2024
Ranked #2 in Ontario and #1 in York Region
The Town of Stouffville is proud to announce its significant rise in the rankings of Canada’s Most Livable Cities for 2024, as determined by The Globe and Mail. Climbing an impressive 66 spots from the previous year, Whitchurch-Stouffville now ranks as the 13th most livable city in Canada. The town also holds the distinction of being the 2nd most desirable place to live in Ontario and the #1 most livable community in York Region.
“This achievement is a reflection of Stouffville’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents,” said Mayor Iain Lovatt. “To be recognized as the top community in York Region, and one of the best places to live in all of Canada, is a testament to the dedication of our council, staff, businesses, and residents. We should all be proud of our collective efforts to make Stouffville a community where everyone can thrive.”
The Globe and Mail's ranking system evaluates 43 variables across 10 categories, including economy, housing, demographics, health care, safety, education, community, amenities, transportation, and climate. These categories are selected to reflect the key priorities of people searching for a place to call home.
In addition to its overall ranking, Stouffville also excelled in other categories. It was named the 3rd best place in Canada for access to healthcare and the 1st most livable city climate.
“This accomplishment highlights the vibrancy and inclusivity of our town,” added Lovatt. “Whether you're raising a family, starting a new chapter in retirement, or arriving as a newcomer, Stouffville is a place where everyone belongs. Our community’s passion and sense of pride are what set us apart.”
