Street Sweeping Season is Underway in Stouffville
With the arrival of spring, the Town has officially launched the annual Street Sweeping Program. This important maintenance work helps remove built-up sand, debris and leaves from our roads, improving cleanliness and safety throughout the community.
To help our crew provide the most effective service possible, residents are kindly asked to follow a few simple guidelines:
- Keep sand and leaves along the curb
Please avoid piling yard waste directly on the road. Instead, spread it evenly along the curb to allow street sweepers to collect it more efficiently.
- Minimize on-street parking
Reducing the number of parked vehicles on the street during sweeping operations allows our crew and equipment to clean more thoroughly and safely.
- Place bins and bags off the roadway
Ensure all green bins, blue bins, garbage bags and waste containers are placed on your driveway or boulevard instead of the road. This prevents obstructions and helps maintain a smooth cleaning process.
- Follow local By-Laws
As a reminder, By-Law 2019-083-RE prohibits placing sports equipment such as basketball nets, skateboard ramps and bicycle ramps on public lands or overhanging onto the street. These items can interfere with maintenance operations and pose risks to both workers and drivers year-round.
By working together and following these guidelines, we can ensure a smooth and successful street sweeping season while keeping our community safe, clean and welcoming.
