Interactive options

This program introduces students to life in a Huron-Wendat village, specifically the late 16th century village unearthed in what is now Whitchurch-Stouffville. Explore this remarkable community and see village life through a 3D experience.

Why were craft skills so important? Challenge your students’ artistic abilities by creating Victorian paper pastimes such as paper piercing and scherenschnitte (German paper cutting).

Send your students back in time and explore our 19th century schoolhouse. Develop an understanding of the school experience by learning the routines of the 19th century classroom. Participate in slate & bell work!

Engage your students through a variety of demonstrations on the complicated process of pioneer clothing production. Learn to card wool, watch a spinning demonstration, and practice weaving on cardboard looms.

Hands on tours

Spend an hour exploring the day-to-day life of early settlers and the growth and development of a family farm in the 1800’s. Examine the differences between early and mid-19th century life and the changing responsibilities of family members by touring the historic Settler Log Cabin and Victorian Farmhouse.

Runs November to March. Imagine life as it was in the 19th century in the cold winter months as you tour through our Pioneer Log Cabin and our Victorian Farmhouse. Discuss winter responsibilities, challenges and social customs practiced by the Early Settlers and Victorian middle class.

Runs late November to mid-December. Compare significant traditions and celebrations and identify the reasons for differences and changes over time. Enjoy the holiday cheer in our decorated Pioneer Log Cabin and Victorian Farmhouse.

Enjoy a lively discussion exploring gift giving. Follow-up by creating up to two heritage holiday crafts! Offered in conjunction with A Nineteenth Century Christmas Tour.
