Aurora Road Closure from July 26 - July 27

Aurora Road between Warden Avenue and Woodbine Avenue will be closed on Saturday July 26, 2025 from 7 AM to 7 PM on Sunday July 27, 2025 for railway rehab work.

Notice: Weekend On-Street Parking Restrictions

To accommodate special events in Memorial Park this weekend, on-street parking will be restricted to one side of the street. Temporary “No Parking” signage will be installed by Friday July 11, 2025, and removed by Monday July 14, 2025.

Construction Notice: York Durham Line from Bethesda Sideroad to 14th Avenue

The project on York Durham Line, from Bethesda Sideroad to 14th Avenue in the City of Markham and Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, involves removing and replacing the asphalt road surface. The current asphalt contains traces of asbestos, which were commonly used in mixes during the 1970s and 1980s, though the risk of exposure is minimal. Precautionary measures will be taken during removal. Additional work includes replacing road crossings and driveway culverts, cleaning roadside ditches, and replacing curbs. Due to the road’s width, a series of road closures will be necessary to safely complete the project.

Town of Stouffville Invites Public to Shape the 2026 Budget

The Town of Stouffville is inviting all residents and local stakeholders to actively participate in shaping the 2026 municipal budget through a multi-stage public engagement campaign that prioritizes transparency, collaboration, and community impact. An interactive online budget tool will launch this summer to allow residents to explore trade-offs and help prioritize municipal services. In addition, Mayor Lovatt will host a town hall in September to further discuss budget priorities, answer questions, and engage directly with residents on key community needs.

Stouffville Sounds the Call for a New Town Crier

Hear ye, hear ye! The Town of Stouffville seeks an enthusiastic and community-minded individual to take on the historic and symbolic role of Town Crier. This tradition, which dates back centuries, once served as the primary means of sharing public announcements. Today, the position remains a cherished symbol of civic pride and community heritage. The selected Town Crier will serve as a ceremonial ambassador, representing Stouffville at official events, community festivals, and civic celebrations. With bell in hand and voice raised, the Crier will add a touch of tradition and pageantry to Town functions.
